Hearing protection

Noise is the collective noun for sounds which are harmful or perceived to be a nuisance. The potential risk of damage to hearing is based on two factors: the exposure time and the noise level (in decibels). We can give advice when it is known which damaging sounds have to be filtered out. Excessive filtering is, however, inadvisable, because it prevents users from being aware of what is taking place around them - which is hazardous in itself. They may, furthermore, develop a feeling of isolation.
