Protection of the respiratory system is an absolute must. If it is not possible to tackle the source of any substances that may cause respiratory problems, the correct personal protective equipment (PPE) must be used. All protective equipment is based on the maximum allowable concentration (MAC value) of these substances in any particular room or environment. It goes without saying that if this value is exceeded action must be taken, but we also recommend the wearing of respiratory protection if substances are present at concentrations below their MAC values.
