Used for leaf miner control

Mode of Action

Adult female parasitic wasps (Diglyphus isaea) kill leaf miner larvae in the second and third larval stages within the mine and lay an egg next to them. The egg develops inside the mine (but outside the leaf miner larva) into a parasitic wasp, using the killed larva as food. Adult females also kill young leaf miner larvae through host feeding, where the larvae are consumed as a food source.

The presence of Diglyphus isaea in the crop can be identified by short mines containing dead leaf miner larvae. Older larvae and pupae can be seen through the leaf.

Dosage

The dosage of Diglyphus depends on the climate, crop, and leaf miner pressure and should always be tailored to the specific situation. Begin introductions as soon as the first mines are observed in the crop. Typical release rates range from 0.25 to 3 per m² per release. At least three introductions should be made at weekly intervals, or until the pest is under control. At low temperatures (<20°C/68°F), using Minusa may be more effective. Contact a Koppert advisor or a certified Koppert distributor for tailored advice.

Climate conditions
Diglyphus isaea is most effective at temperatures between 15°C and 25°C (59–77°F). Can be combined with Minusa.
