Biological control with nematodes Steinernema feltiae (Entomopathogenic nematodes).

Effective against: Larvae of fungus gnats (Sciaridae), pupae of thrips, and larvae of vine weevil (soil application). Larvae of thrips (foliar application).

Each box contains nematodes (third stage) packaged in gel in sachets.

Mode of action:
After application, the nematodes actively search for the prey and penetrate it. They feed on the contents of the host and release specific bacteria from their digestive tract. These bacteria convert the host tissue into products that the nematodes can easily absorb. The larvae die within a few days.

Application:

• Soil temperature must be between 8 and 33°C.

• Water the soil before and after application and keep the soil moist for up to two weeks after treatment.

• Nematodes are very sensitive to ultraviolet (UV) light: do not use in direct sunlight.

• Perform foliar sprays in the evening to minimize UV exposure and maximize moisture availability for the nematodes.

• When applying to foliage, it is advisable to use a spreader.

• Repeat foliar treatments weekly as long as necessary.

• Application can be done with a watering can, irrigation system, backpack sprayer, or spray vehicle.

• Remove all filters to prevent clogging.

• Use a maximum pressure of 12 bar on the boom or spray lance.

• The nozzle opening must be at least 0.5 mm (500 microns).

• Continuously stir to prevent nematodes from settling at the bottom of the spray tank.

• The amount of spray liquid depends on the application method.

• Spray evenly over the soil surface or foliage.

• Preparation of spray liquid: Take the packaging out of the refrigerator half an hour before preparing the product and allow it to reach room temperature (20°C). Break the contents of the sachet into smaller pieces. Put the contents into a bucket with five liters of water (between 15 and 20°C). Let the bucket stand for five minutes. Then stir the solution until all lumps disappear and pour it into the spray tank. Use the spray liquid immediately.
