Mode of Action
Pherodis dispensers release a species-specific sex pheromone or attractant and must be used in combination with an insect trap; the type of trap depends on the target species. The sex pheromone attracts males of the target pest into the trap. Capturing males also helps reduce the number of eggs laid by females, as mating is prevented. For some pests, Pherodis dispensers contain attractants that lure both sexes of the target species.

Preparation

• Remove the sachets containing pheromone dispensers from the refrigerator and open the sachets.

• Do not touch the dispenser directly to avoid transferring pheromone via hand contact to unintended areas.

Application

• Place the dispenser inside the trap and position the trap according to instructions for the specific trap type.

• Wash hands between handling pheromone traps for different pest species.

• During the first few days after placing a new capsule, higher pest catches may occur due to a temporarily higher pheromone release.

• Pheromone dispensers remain active for up to six weeks.
