Trace element that is used as a fertiliser in professional horticulture. Trace elements give the crop its colour and stimulate various processes in the plant. They are strongly influenced by pH in soil and water. The element is better absorbable for the plant when chelated, compared to sulfates.

Borium  has multiple roles in plant metabolism and is active in:

• Immunising plants against self-intoxication through the plant's own polyphenols
• Stimulating growth of cambium fibre and gemmae of stem and root
• Optimising meristem activity as well as general metabolism.
• promoting pollen production
• Ensuring optimal fertilisation
• Translocation of auxines (phytohormomes)
• influencing water use in the plant.

Borium also plays a role in keeping cell walls strong and integral (anti-lodging agent). It regulates the distribution of sugars in all parts of the plant, and promotes a good and well regulated cell multiplication.
